Welcome to Mapalo, Zambia

Mapalo-Chipulukusu

Support Sustain Succeed Zambia (S3Z) is currently focusing its efforts on a township in Zambia called Mapalo (formerly known as Chipulukusu). It is just outside of Ndola, the second largest city of Zambia, in the Copperbelt region. It is one of the largest and fastest-growing townships, with an approximate population of around 85,000.

Mapalo residents live on less than $2 per day for an average household of 6 family members.

When COVID began making its devastating impact on the world in 2020, Charlie and Miriam had just started Support Sustain Succeed Zambia.

The first program they tackled was feeding children whose parents or caretakers could not work due to businesses and roadside markets closing down.

From April 2020- December 2021, a feeding program was held 3-4 days a week, feeding over 150 children each day, with over 25,000 meals served.

In 2020-2021 we provided funding for medical and food assistance to over 40 malnourished infants and over 35 extremely impoverished families in the community

In 2021, we provided digital thermometers and all necessary cleaning supplies to keep all 22 primary schools in Mapalo stocked and able to remain open per hygiene regulations

In 2021, they purchased 90 school desks, and all teacher and students textbooks and materials to begin a high school slated to open in 2022 for grade 8

In 2021, we began sponsoring 5 college students and were able to purchase property for a future trade skills building

We provided funds for relief efforts for over 100 victims of the 2022 Tropical Storm Ana that flooded parts of Mapalo
